I started life as a Sports Therapist with Queens Park Rangers FC in 2001 after completing a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Therapy. My interest in injury and rehabilitation grew and in 2006 I achieved a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
Since graduation I completed various rotations in the NHS including outpatients, trauma and rheumatology gaining broad rehabilitation experience. Whilst working full time, I continued to develop my sporting skills with Southampton FC, assessing and treating the elite academy players, enabling me to witness first-hand the pressures and types of injury sustained by young sporting professionals.
The desire to increase my knowledge in sports injuries led me to Cardiff University to gain a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at distinction level. My thesis was on functional ankle instability in athletes, a specialist interest of mine. Having had my undergraduate dissertation on ‘Piriformis Syndrome’ published, am hoping this thesis follows suit.
